A woman's lot in rural areas is a hard one, no running water or readily available fuel for cooking. No transport to the market place, very little access to basic medical attention. The money earned from this toy goes directly into the hands of the women who are thus able to improve the quality of life for themselves.
Kenana knitters generate two forms of income, buying homespun wool then creating more work by knitting into this marketable product.
